In honor of Women’s History Month, we are highlighting women in leadership positions at Brightview Senior Living. Kimkitta Cariah-Butler is the Executive Director at Brightview Fallsgrove.
What qualities make a great leader?
A great leader is in tune with their team and recognizes the value of every individual. They are avid listeners. They are fair and can maintain perspective when things get difficult. They motivate others to strive for personal and professional bests.
Why do we need more women in leadership?
There is power, strength and resilience in women’s experiences that can only enhance a position of leadership. Seeing more daughters, wives, mothers, and sisters in positions of leadership carries a tremendous resonance and a has greater impact on future generations.
Fortune and Great Place to Work® recognized Brightview Senior Living as one of the 2019 Best Workplaces for Women. What makes Brightview a great workplace for women?
Brightview has been successful at cultivating an environment where time for yourself and family is just as important as time to manage a business. The company values and encourages that personal time.
What does the 2021 International Women’s Day theme “Choose to Challenge” mean to you?
Choose to Challenge means to hone in on an inequality and really focus on how to make a difference, even if it is helping one person. Don’t sit back, take action to challenge a process and get your hands dirty.
What advice would you give your younger self when looking back on your career?
Stay the course! The lessons that you are learning along the way, the people that you meet are your unique pathway. Continue to always challenge yourself, remain self-aware and embrace your uniqueness!
